Zug, Switzerland; 8 April 2022 – Bitcoin Suisse is proud to announce the launch of its new Bitcoin Suisse Research Grant Fellowship program. As the Swiss market leader and the oldest and largest crypto-financial services company in Switzerland, Bitcoin Suisse feels a great responsibility to support the continued growth and expansion of the technical crypto community. The Bitcoin Suisse Research Grant Fellowship will offer funding to three individuals or initiatives per year. Two grantees for 2022 have already been selected and one additional grant is open for application.

In the first year of the Fellowship, beginning 1 April 2022, Bitcoin Suisse will focus on two areas which are closely identified with its history and focus as a company and crucial to the future success of Bitcoin and the crypto-financial ecosystem: Bitcoin core development and the Lightning Network.

The first two Fellows are:

  • Rene Pickhardt – Lightning educator, developer, researcher; co-authored the new “Mastering Lightning” book

A third grant is also available, and applicants are encouraged to apply by filling out the form here.

Each fellow of the Bitcoin Suisse Research program will receive a total funding of CHF 10’000 paid out in BTC in quarterly installments à CHF 2’500. Their work will be featured in Bitcoin Suisse Research publications in collaboration with the Bitcoin Suisse Research Department.

Bitcoin Suisse Head Research Dr. Marcus Dapp commented on the launch of the Fellowship: “There are so many new aspects of this space that are still unexplored – which is why we are extremely happy to be able to support the community with our Fellowship program. The entire world can benefit when we work together to constantly “think beyond” and delve even further into the possibilities of Bitcoin and crypto-financial technology.”
