Bitcoin Suisse prepares for next stage of growth

Zug, August 18 2021 – In preparation for its next stage of growth, Bitcoin Suisse is reorganizing key functions and appointing three new members to the Management Committee:

  • Peter Camenzind, Chief Operating Officer
  • Sven Ramspott, Chief Risk Officer (Head Risk & Compliance)
  • Ricardo Schlatter, Chief Legal Officer (Head Legal)

The company is creating an independent Chief Operating Officer (COO) unit, which will be led by Peter Camenzind in the role of Chief Operating Officer. At the same time, the company is reorganizing the Legal and Risk & Compliance unit, which moving forwards will be led by Chief Legal Officer Ricardo Schlatter (Head Legal) and Chief Risk Officer Sven Ramspott (Head Risk & Compliance). All three managers will become members of Bitcoin Suisse’s Management Committee. As part of the reorganization, Bitcoin Suisse will invest in the further expansion of its team and in its infrastructure and technology.

Peter Camenzind will assume his new role as Chief Operating Officer on November 1, 2021. He joins Bitcoin Suisse from Bank Vontobel, where he has held various management positions over the past 20 years. As the long-serving head of the business unit Transaction Banking and Platforms & Services Banks Switzerland, he has a wealth of experience that will enable Bitcoin Suisse to scale a comprehensive range of products and services for institutional and private clients in response to the rapid growth of the market and Bitcoin Suisse. Peter Camenzind previously also worked in various functions at UBS and Julius Baer. He holds an EMBA from the University of Berne and an MBA from the University of Rochester, New York.

The new Chief Risk Officer, Sven Ramspott, will assume responsibility for the Risk & Compliance function on September 1, 2021. He has held management positions in the financial industry for over 20 years. Sven Ramspott has for the past 6 months been working as an independent consultant for Bitcoin Suisse within the AML/Compliance unit. From 2007 to 2016, he served the Operational Risk Management function of Credit Suisse, most recently as a director. Prior to that, he worked as an audit manager at Ernst & Young. Sven Ramspott holds a degree in Business Administration from the University of St. Gallen and has completed further studies in the area of finance with a particular focus on audit, asset management and insurance.

The new Chief Legal Officer, Ricardo Schlatter, will assume responsibility for the Legal function on November 1, 2021. He joins Bitcoin Suisse from SIX Digital Exchange, where he was senior legal counsel. He previously served as a senior manager in the Legal Regulatory & Compliance practice at Ernst & Young and as an attorney and associate at Meyerlustenberger Lachenal. Ricardo Schlatter brings with him valuable experience in the areas of regulation, capital markets law and M&A, as well as in topics related to the digitalization of financial services, which are of particular relevance for the development of the crypto-financial industry. Ricardo Schlatter is a licensed attorney and holds a Master of Law from the University of Berne and Vanderbilt University Law School, Tennessee.

As part of these organizational changes, Cédric Mosimann will be appointed Company Corporate Secretary. He joined Bitcoin Suisse two years ago as a senior legal counsel. Prior to joining Bitcoin Suisse, he served as a legal counsel at Itaú Private Bank and at the City of Zurich. Cédric Mosimann is a licensed attorney and holds a Master of Law from University of Lucerne.

David Riegelnig, Head of Risk, and Lars Hodel, Head of Legal & Compliance, are stepping down from their current positions and will continue to work with Bitcoin Suisse as external advisors.
